TikTok Engagement Rate Calculator
Enter the follower count and the average likes, comments, shares and saves on a video. The tool gives you the engagement rate two ways, by followers and by views, and tells you whether it is good for an account your size.
Use it on your own account, or on one you are thinking of buying.

Tip: average the last ten videos. One viral post will skew a single-video reading.
Engagement rate by followers
2.06%
Inside the 0.85% to 7.36% band that brand accounts sit in. Normal.
Engagement rate by views
8.24%
Well above the 3.9% benchmark for 10K – 50K followers. This content lands.
Reach ratio (views ÷ followers): 25.00%
Over 15% of followers watch an average video. A live audience that still shows up.
Comments as a share of interactions: 5.83%
Likes can be bought by the thousand. Comments are harder to fake. A near-zero comment share on a large account is worth a second look.
How the engagement rate is calculated
There are two formulas, and they answer two different questions. Both start with the same number: the interactions on a video, meaning likes plus comments plus shares plus saves.
- By followers. Interactions ÷ followers × 100. This is the classic rate. It measures how much of the audience that chose to follow you still reacts. Brand benchmarks such as Rival IQ's use this one.
- By views. Interactions ÷ views × 100. This is the TikTok-native rate. Most of a video's viewers are not followers, so this version judges the content on everyone who saw it. Socialinsider's TikTok benchmarks use this one.
The benchmark table below is what the tool compares you against. Socialinsider's numbers come from 2 million videos across 214,507 profiles posted between January 2024 and December 2025, and the platform-wide rate by views was 3.85% in the second quarter of 2026, down 8% on the year. By followers, Rival IQ's 2025 brand study puts the industry medians between 0.85% for Health & Beauty and 7.36% for Higher Education, from 150 companies per industry.

What is a good TikTok engagement rate in 2026?
A good rate by views is anything above the benchmark for your size, which sits between 3.75% and 4.40%. A good rate by followers depends on the size of the account: small accounts routinely post 10% or more, while accounts past 100K followers often sit under 2% and are still perfectly healthy.
The trap is reading one number on its own. A 1% rate by followers on a 500K account can be fine. The same 1% on a 20K account, with 300 views a video, is not. That is why the tool also shows the reach ratio, which is the share of followers who actually watch.
How to read an account's engagement before you buy it
If you are about to pay for a TikTok account, run its last ten videos through this tool first. Three numbers tell you most of what you need to know:
- Reach ratio. A listing with 50,000 followers and 400 views a video is telling you where the followers came from. Real audiences show up.
- Comment share. Likes are cheap to buy. Comments with actual sentences in them are not.
- Consistency. Ten videos at a steady 4% beat one at 40% and nine at 0.2%.
Pair the engagement read with two more checks: the account's real creation date from the TikTok account age checker, and whether Creator Rewards is actually switched on, which our guide on how to check if a TikTok account is monetized walks through screen by screen. Then price it with the account worth calculator, which uses the same reach ratio to move the value up or down.
The shortcut. Every monetized TikTok account we sell is grown on real engagement, delivered with full credentials within 24 hours, and covered by a 30-day account guarantee. The numbers this tool checks for are the numbers we check before an account ever goes on sale. One disclosure: MonetizedNow sells accounts. The formulas and benchmarks on this page are the published industry ones, and the reading is the same whether or not you ever buy from us.
