Creator Rewards is TikTok's main payout program. In 2026 it runs in 8 countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, and Mexico. Live outside those 8 and the program does not exist for you. The app never shows you the option, and there is no form to request access.

There is a second gate most people miss. Per TikTok's creator terms, a view only pays if it comes from one of the 8 countries. TikTok calls these qualified views: the video must be over 1 minute long, watched for 5 seconds or more, shown on the For You page, and viewed from an eligible country. Miss any one of those, and the view pays nothing.

Both gates bite. A creator in an excluded country cannot join at all. And a creator inside an eligible country still earns $0 from views outside the 8. If half your audience sits in India or Nigeria, half your views pay nothing — even with the program active. This is the half of the rule that surprises eligible creators most.

The entry rules sit on top of all this. Per TikTok's official requirements, you need 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days, an eligible country, age 18 or over, and a personal account — not a business one. Once you are in, Creator Rewards pays about $0.40–$1.00 per 1,000 qualified US views.

Why TikTok Limits Creator Rewards to 8 Countries

TikTok has not said publicly why these 8. The pattern follows its biggest ad markets. Creator Rewards money comes from the ads TikTok sells, and advertisers pay the most to reach viewers in these countries.

That also explains the view rule. A qualified view is a view an advertiser paid to reach. A view from a country where TikTok sells little ad space brings in little money, so the program does not pay for it.

This is a business choice, not a judgment on creators. Talent is everywhere. Ad budgets are not. Until the ad money in a country grows, the payout program tends to stay out of it.

In an Excluded Country? What Actually Happens

If your country is not on the list, the Creator Rewards option simply never appears in your app. You cannot apply, and there is no wait list to join. Many creators find this out after months of posting toward the 10,000-follower bar.

Changing your region is not a settings toggle. TikTok reads several signals to decide where an account lives: your IP address, your SIM card, your device language and locale, and the country of the app store you downloaded from. These need to agree.

That is why VPN tricks fail. A VPN changes one signal — the IP — while the SIM, device, and app store still say home. Mismatched setups do not pass, and a profile that looks half in one country and half in another is a red flag, not a shortcut. We do not recommend it.
