Is TikTok Creator Rewards available in Nigeria?

No. Nigeria is not one of the eight countries where Creator Rewards runs. The program pays in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico. That is the whole list, and no African country is on it.

Where you live is the first gate. TikTok's Creator Rewards Program terms ask for a legal resident of a country where the program is made available, aged 18 or over. An account run from Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt fails that line before follower counts are even relevant. The full list sits on our Creator Rewards countries page.

The other requirements only bite once your country is in. TikTok's program terms ask for 10,000 authentic followers and 100,000 authentic video views in the last 30 days. They rule out Business Accounts, and they set a $50 payment threshold before any money moves.

So there is nothing to fail, because Nigerian creators do not get rejected. They never see the button. A skit maker in Lagos can pass a million followers and post every day for a year. The program still never opens for that account.

That is a different problem from a knockback inside the eight. If you live in a paying country and the answer came back no, the cause is usually one of a few known things. We list them on our Creator Rewards rejected page.

Why do views from Nigeria pay $0?

Because the program pays only for qualified views, and a view from Nigeria can never be one. A qualified view is much narrower than a view, and every test has to pass at once.

The video has to be one minute or longer. The viewer has to watch for five seconds or more. The viewer must not have marked it as not interested. And repeat views from the same account count as one view, per TikTok's program terms.

On top of those, the viewer has to sit in one of the eight paying countries. A view from Ibadan or Kano fails that test, so it earns nothing. The country rule cuts twice. It keeps Nigerian creators out of the program, and it strips the value out of a Nigerian audience for everyone else.

Here is the math. Creator-reported figures put qualified US views at roughly $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000. Say a skit pulls 2,000,000 views and 40,000 of them are qualified US views. That pays about $16 to $40. The other 1,960,000 views pay nothing.

Now flip it. The same skit with 2,000,000 qualified US views pays about $800 to $2,000, fifty times the money for the same view count. TikTok pays for where the viewer sits, not for how many people watched. Our qualified views page walks through each test.

Length is a hard floor and it catches a lot of Nigerian content. Skits, dance clips and Afrobeats edits under a minute pay $0 wherever the viewers are. Do UK viewers help a creator in Nigeria earn on TikTok?

Partly, and only for an account that is already eligible. The United Kingdom is one of the eight paying countries, so views from people who are physically in the UK can count as qualified views. That is real, and it is worth planning around.

The catch is who gets paid. The creator still has to be a legal resident of one of the eight countries to be in the program at all. British viewers do not make a Lagos-based account eligible. They only lift what an already-eligible account earns.

The audience is there. The UK's Office for National Statistics counted 270,768 usual residents of England and Wales born in Nigeria in the 2021 Census. That figure is place of birth only. Add their UK-born children, and the Nigerian-heritage audience in Britain is bigger again.

Read that carefully, because it does not mean a Nigerian account earns from UK viewers. It means an eligible account earns more when its viewers are in the UK. Those are two different sentences, and only one of them is true.

So the UK angle is a content plan, not a loophole. Videos in English or Pidgin, made for Nigerians living in London, Manchester and Birmingham, are a genuine strategy. It is one of the few ways to build an audience that pays a rate. But someone eligible has to be holding the account.

What actually earns money on TikTok in Nigeria today?

Brand deals and your own products. Both are open to anyone in Nigeria right now, and neither one waits for TikTok to switch a country on.

TikTok Shop is not on the map for Nigeria. TikTok's own newsroom lists its European markets. Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland joined France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK from 15 June 2026. Its seller center's market list covers the Americas, Asia and Europe, and no African country is on it. So do not plan around affiliate commission in Nigeria, and check the Shop tab in your own app before you count on it.

The harder question in Nigeria is not earning but getting the money to land in naira you can use. The US government's trade guide for Nigeria lists the methods of payment in use there. They are confirmed irrevocable letters of credit, bills for collection and open accounts. The same guide warns that fraudulent practices involving forged financial documents are common. It also notes that the central bank floated the naira in June 2023.

That guide is written for exporters, but the lesson carries. Agree the payment route before you agree the fee. A dollar account at a Nigerian bank, an invoice in dollars or pounds, or an international transfer service are the usual routes. The condition is that they are set up first. Sort the route, then chase the deal, and the money stops being the part that goes wrong.

Selling your own thing works the same way. A service, a course, a skit-writing gig, a physical product. TikTok is only the traffic. The money moves through a checkout you chose, so you never wait for a platform to add your country.

One thing that does not work is buying followers or views. TikTok's terms ask for authentic followers and authentic views, so bought numbers do not get an account into Creator Rewards. Real numbers are the only ones the program counts.

How big is TikTok in Nigeria, and why does none of it pay a rate?

Nigeria is an enormous TikTok market. It is also worth $0 per view under Creator Rewards. Those two facts sitting side by side are why this page exists.

DataReportal, working from TikTok's own ad planning data, counts 47.8 million TikTok users aged 18 and over in Nigeria in late 2025. That is 38.2% of all adults. Treat it as an advertiser estimate rather than a head count. The direction is unmistakable.

It grew fast, too. The same report says TikTok's adult ad reach in Nigeria rose by 14.5 million people, or 43.4%, between the end of 2024 and late 2025. All of that growth happened with no pay-per-view program in place.

The country behind it is young and less than half online. Nigeria's population was about 239 million in October 2025, with 109 million internet users, or 45.5% of the country. The median age was 18.1 years, so half the country is still too young to count in that adult figure.

The audience skews male. The report puts 68.1% of TikTok's adult ad audience in Nigeria as male and 31.9% as female. That shapes which brands come calling, and what a Nigerian creator can charge them.

Now put that next to the money. A creator in Mexico can join Creator Rewards. A creator in Lagos with millions of views cannot. Reach and pay are not the same thing, and the gap is not about talent.

How can a creator in Nigeria get inside Creator Rewards?

There are two honest routes. Move to one of the eight countries and live there, or run an account that is already based in one of them. Both work, and neither is free.

Moving is the clean route and the slow one. A Nigerian creator who is now a legal resident of the UK or the US meets that line. The terms ask you to live in a country where the program runs. That means living there for real. It is not a setting you change in the app.
