The TikTok Creator Fund Is Closed: What Replaced It and What It Pays
Updated 2026-09-04
The TikTok Creator Fund is closed. TikTok shut it down on December 16, 2023 in the US, the UK, France and Germany. The replacement is the Creator Rewards Program. The old fund paid creators roughly two to four cents per 1,000 views. Creator Rewards pays a creator-reported $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000 qualified US views, at least ten times more. TikTok said creators could earn up to 20 times the old rate. To join you need 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, a Personal account, and to be 18 or older. Only original videos over one minute earn, and payouts start at $50.

Is the TikTok Creator Fund still open?
No. TikTok closed the Creator Fund on December 16, 2023 for creators in the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. The Creator Rewards Program replaced it, and it pays far more per view. Creators still in the old fund were pointed to the newer program and had to switch across.
That newer program went through a name change. It launched as the Creativity Program Beta. TikTok's own FAQ now says the Creator Rewards Program replaced the Creativity Program Beta, and that anyone already in the beta was enrolled automatically. So there are three names in play, but only one live program.
The search term outlived the product. If you came here looking for the Creator Fund, the thing you actually want is Creator Rewards. It pays far more per view, the rules are published, and the dashboard shows your numbers. For the wider income picture, see what TikTokers actually earn.
What was the Creator Fund and what did it pay?
The Creator Fund was a fixed pot of money shared between creators. It paid roughly two to four cents per 1,000 views.
TikTok launched it in July 2020 with a $200 million commitment. Trade outlet Music Ally reported it grew to a promised $1 billion over three years, with a $300 million European fund following that September. The same report covered a Tubefilter survey of early recipients, who all saw RPM rates worth roughly two to four cents per 1,000 views.
Run the math and you can see the problem. At three cents per 1,000 views, a video with one million views paid about $30. A creator could go viral all month and still make less than a shift at a coffee shop. That gap is why the fund got a bad name long before it closed. It also explains why so many people still search for it. They remember the name, not the payout.
Why did TikTok shut the Creator Fund down?
TikTok swapped it for a program built around longer videos and higher pay. Creators had spent years saying the fund paid too little.
The fund was one fixed pot. Split it between more and more creators and every slice gets smaller. TechCrunch reported that creators complained about low payouts, with some saying they earned a few dollars for videos with millions of views. The same report quotes TikTok on the switch. Creators posting original videos over a minute long "have the potential to earn up to 20 times the amount previously offered by the Creator Fund."
That one-minute line is the whole shift. Short clips built the app, but the new money follows watch time. Our guide to the one-minute video rule explains how it decides which uploads earn and which ones just get views.
What is the Creator Rewards Program?
The Creator Rewards Program is TikTok's current pay-per-view program. It rewards original videos over one minute long, based on qualified views.
TikTok describes it as a way to collect rewards for original video content over 1 minute long. It comes with an enhanced dashboard for tracking rewards and performance. In spring 2025 TikTok added an Additional Reward layer. It pays extra for content that is well made, sparks real conversation, or shows deep skill in a niche. Quality moves the number now, not just view count.
The dashboard is the part creators underrate. It lists your eligible videos and shows the rewards and RPM for each one. It also splits qualified views from ineligible views, and tells you why the ineligible ones did not count. That turns guesswork into a feedback loop, so you learn which topic, length and hook actually paid.
Videos have their own bar. TikTok says a video must be original, high quality and over one minute. It also needs at least 1,000 views on the For You feed. Duets, Stitches, Photo Mode posts, ads and paid promotions do not count. TikTok asks for 1080p or higher too. Applying takes seconds. Open TikTok Studio from your profile menu and tap Creator Rewards Program. TikTok says you hear back within three days.
What do you need to qualify for Creator Rewards?
You need 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. You also need to be 18 or older, on a Personal account, based in one of eight countries.
TikTok's eligibility page lists all of it. Business accounts are out. Accounts tied to organizations, governments or political parties are out. Your account has to be in good standing under the Community Guidelines. And your account has to be registered in the country you live in.
Good standing is easier to hold than it sounds. TikTok reviews accounts against its monetization policies, and it looks for the obvious stuff. Copied videos, slideshow filler, clickbait profiles, contact details stuffed into a bio. Post your own work and keep it clean, and you clear that bar without thinking about it.
The country list is short: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. Check the full Creator Rewards country list before you plan anything. The follower bar is what stops most people. Our guide to how many followers you need to get paid breaks down every threshold on the app. If TikTok says no, the common reasons applications get turned down show you which box to fix.
What counts as a qualified view?
A qualified view is a real view of at least five seconds, from a country where the program runs. Each account counts once, no matter how many times it watches.
TikTok's qualified view rules spell out the rest. Views from Search count when watch time hits 30 seconds or more. Fraud, paid views, disliked views and clicks under five seconds are all stripped out. Ads, paid promotions and sponsored content do not qualify. Views from the View Boost Benefit do not count either, though they still grow your audience.
This is why the view number in your analytics and the view number on your rewards dashboard rarely match. The gap is normal, not a fault. Our page on qualified views breaks down the five filters every view has to pass, and how to hold people past the five-second mark.
How much does Creator Rewards pay per 1,000 views?
Creators report $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000 qualified US views. That is at least ten times the two to four cents the old Creator Fund paid.
Put real numbers on it. One million qualified views pays about $400 to $1,000 under Creator Rewards. The same million under the old fund paid about $20 to $40. The rate moves with your niche, your audience country and your watch time, so treat the band as a range and not a promise. Our breakdown of views needed to make $1,000 runs the same arithmetic to a target.
Getting paid is its own step. TikTok's FAQ says you can redeem on the 15th of each month, once your balance clears a $50 minimum. You have to finish onboarding first, tax details included. Reward estimates update within three days of posting. The Creator Rewards payout timeline walks the whole cycle from post to bank.
What else pays on top of Creator Rewards?
Creator Rewards is one stream, not the whole income. LIVE gifts, TikTok Shop commissions and brand deals stack on top. Together they are worth more than the per-view rate on its own.
TikTok LIVE is the fastest one to switch on. You need 1,000 followers, and you must be 18 or older. TikTok's Going LIVE guide explains how viewers send Gifts that turn into Diamonds you can withdraw. See what TikTok LIVE actually pays for real gift-to-cash numbers.
TikTok Shop is the biggest earner for a lot of accounts. The standard affiliate threshold is 5,000 followers, and commissions can dwarf view-based pay on the right product. The Shop affiliate requirements cover the whole approval path. Add brand deals through TikTok One and you get four streams running at once. Across all four, our calculator uses a combined $1.10 to $1.70 per 1,000 views.
What is the fastest way past the 10,000-follower gate?
The 10,000-follower bar is what stops most creators. You either climb it with months of posting, or you start on an account that is already up there.
That is what we sell. A Pre-Grown TikTok Account carries 1,000+ real followers at $97. You skip the cold-start phase where nothing gets seen, and post to an audience that already exists. A Monetized TikTok Account at $197 is already through the gate and inside the program. Your first upload can earn.
Handover is built to be clean. Every account arrives in good standing, with full credentials inside 24 hours. We lock it down to you on day one. Email and phone move across, the password changes, old devices get pushed out. You open the Creator Rewards dashboard yourself, on your own phone, long before your 7-day money-back window closes. The 30-day account guarantee runs well past it. Staying inside TikTok's rules is simple from there. The rules are short and public: original videos, over a minute, from a Personal account in good standing.
